Düsseldorf, 20 July 2022: With the new Assouline book, the reader embarks on a journey to the moon. Buzz Aldrin, who was the second man to set foot on the moon as part of the Apollo 11 mission shortly after Neil Armstrong, is also very enthusiastic about the book.

The Space Race of the 1960s inspired creative minds in design, architecture and fashion. The new Assouline book explores the moon as a scientific and cultural symbol, a destination to aspire to.

For centuries, the moon was synonymous with the mysterious, the unknown. But over the years, humanity has explored it and even managed to travel there. Earth's moon is a constant that is universal to every human being, past or present. A rare and unifying phenomenon and, above all, a source of inspiration. The influence of the moon is not limited to scientific research, but can also be found in fashion, art, architecture and film.

The texts for the book were written by space journalist and television presenter Sarah Cruddas. Cruddas is a space journalist, TV presenter and author. She has an academic background in astrophysics and is a global thought leader in the growing commercial space sector. On television, Sarah Cruddas is one of the presenters of Contact on Discovery Channel and Science Channel.
