First of all, when the invitation to an evening with Mason Garments in Düsseldorf arrived, our initial thought was, oh French, how lovely. Far from it, and streetwear addicts and streetwear influencers would of course have known better, because one of the coolest luxury sneaker brands in the world moved into a cool loft on Kirchfeldstrasse for one night. Which luxury sneaker brand? Our German national coach Julian Nagelsmann would have had an answer to that question right away, because he has been wearing Dutch Mason Garments sneakers for a long time, and a brand couldn't ask for a better testimonial.

So, let's head to Kirchfeldstrasse in the evening, where Mason Garments presented itself to the public for the night. Instead of choosing the Kö or a luxury hotel in the city center, they opted for a cool loft. But even here, the audience was not your average crowd; the upper echelons of streetwear influencers, content creators, and musicians had gathered. Among them were Yosefelm, Randy Reccless, Nico Kunzelmann, Jimi Kobayashi, Ahmad Fits, and many more.

From Düsseldorf, there were former GNTM model and Kö star Ricardo Alvarez and Ukrainian interior designer and content creator Yaroslava. The entire brand team from Amsterdam was brought along, and everyone took on a task, from the buffet and bar to catering.

Who is Mason Garments?

As mentioned, Julian Nagelsmann knew this very early on, as CEO Soufyan El Hammouti revealed to us. It was discovered rather by chance that he was wearing Mason Garments shoes. The founding story, on the other hand, was rather bumpy. Founder Rendi Aditia, who sold sneakers in Amsterdam himself, had the dream of producing his own brand.

According to CEO El Hammouti, who has known Aditia since school, the founder initially transferred money to China for sneaker production. When they wanted to have the goods delivered, the Chinese contractual partners could no longer remember any contract. So the entire company started with a negative balance. Then they tried to make a fresh start in Italy. Here, they seemed to have luck on their side. Today, Mason Garments sneakers are manufactured in two different production facilities in Italy.

What is the secret recipe behind Mason Garments?

Dutch coolness and Italian craftsmanship

The sneakers are simply elegant and are likely to appeal even to non-sneaker wearers. Founder Rendi Aditia claims to be the first to offer luxury sneakers in Holland. He realized that there was actually no supplier in the segment between cheap sneakers and very expensive sneakers. In terms of sales, he was successful from the start, Aditia said in an interview with The Quote. He finances the brand's growth himself.

The names

More and more celebrities are wearing his shoes, such as Justin Bieber, who was seen wearing a model called “Barzilla Low,” a pink Niki sneaker with turquoise tassels. Chris Brown was spotted wearing the “Tia Next Gen” model, a black leather sneaker with a white rubber sole, and BVB player Marco Reus was seen wearing leopard-print “Napoli” sneakers.

Why Düsseldorf now?

Both are very curious about Düsseldorf, according to CEO El Hammouti, and plans are already in place to return soon. Mason Garments already has a strong presence in Breuninger Stuttgart, which should be a good starting point for expansion in Germany, as the chain's luxury branch is located in Düsseldorf. They consider the people of Düsseldorf to be very open-minded, cool, but also very discerning. This high standard was also evident that evening with the assembled influencers and celebrities; handmade Italian shoes seem to be a must.

Sneakers fulfill traditional conventions

Luxury sneakers have long since taken their place alongside traditional dress shoes. Unlike conventional sneakers, they do not use synthetic materials, but real leather or even exotic skins, and are made by artisans in traditional shoe factories in England or Italy.
