Irish fashion designer Simone Rocha has assembled artworks by internationally renowned and emerging artists at Lismore Castle. Lismore is one of Ireland's most beautiful castles and the Irish seat of the Duke of Devonshire. The castle also hosted the English evening entertainer Sir Walter Raleigh; and was often visited by the Kennedy family. The current heirs, the Earl and Countess of Burlington, have converted one of the outbuildings into an art gallery since 2005.
"Girls Girls Girls" spans from famous artists like Cindy Sherman and Roni Horn to a younger generation of artists like Sophie Barber, Elene Chantladze, Luo Yang and Genieve Figgis.
Simone Rocha wanted the exhibition to be an honest exploration of femininity. She curated a contrast of media - art, sculpture and photography. Commenting on the exhibition, she said that as a designer, artists and image-makers have long been a source of inspiration for her. Exploring worlds she had not seen and seeing them from another's point of view excites her.
As a designer, she had one foot in reality, but also wanted to explore the artist's inner narrative. The female spirit and experience has been an important focus of her work from the beginning - so she always strives to create "something traditionally feminine in a modern, crazy world".

About the designer
Simone Rocha has Irish-Cantonese roots and is the daughter of the well-known London designer John Rocha. Her collections have a strong sense of femininity and have taken a unique place in the fashion landscape. Her designs are inspired by fantasy, history or even fairy tales, appear whimsical, ethereal but are not fragile but always portray a strong rebellious personality. Simone Rocha is also known for experimenting with fabrics, cuts and materials and the designer seeks proximity to artists.
A catalogue will be published in Summer 2022 to accompany the exhibition.

Simone Rocha - Children of Lir - AW 22 The most beautiful moments
Staged in the medieval hall of the London Inn of Court - fabulous and romantic, dark but hopeful. The designer hoped that her collection triggered a "startling melancholic euphoria" among her guests. The Children of Lir collection can only be described with one word. Poetry.
