Maison Valentino and its creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli are tireless in weaving the language of their fashion with that of art.  Pierpaolo Piccioli believes that art is the medium through which one can truly touch the nature of the most intimate feelings.

His latest effort is "Valentino On Canvas," for which Maison Valentino has collaborated with three internationally renowned emerging artists: Emilio Villalba, Giorgio Celin and Oh de Laval. All 3 artists created a work to that reproduces the Valentino Garavani One Stud bag from the Valentino Rendez-Vous collection.

Artist Giorgio Celin loves to play with clothes in his paintings. He comes from an immigrant/working class family and has always been very aware of the power of clothing. Giorgio Celin says that the things you wear can change the way people view you. He also says it was a great privilege for him to be the first Colombian to participate in a project with Maison Valentino.

For Emilio Villalba, the inspiration for his painting for Valentino began with the bag. He wanted the composition to support the bag while being connected to his overall narrative. His paintings often include subjects from his daily life. Each item was painted with love and aligned to support the overall flow of the composition. Emilio Villalba finds it interesting to see how the objects evolve over time, becoming either more complex in form or more minimalistic.

For Artist Oh De Laval, what her paintings and the Valentino Garavani One Stud Bag have in common is that they both have a strong iconic statement. After that would come the colors, the details and the classic touch. "Both are statement pieces that you will think about long after you see them."

Pierpaolo Piccioli efforts to enrich the creative influence of the Valentino world are relentless.  His latest #ValentinoOnCanvas collaborations further bridges the gap to art. The strict boundaries of fashion and art have long since dissolved and in Valentino's case, the house stages itself in art exhibitions, fashion shows in front of art backdrops, the participation in the Venice Biennale. Both worlds inspire each other, but art is immortal.

The Valentino One Stud bag reduces one of the most important symbols of the Maison, the Stud, with its strong Roman appeal, to the central element. The Valentino One Stud will surely find its place in the history of handbags.
