Doctor Who Worlds of Wonder exhibition opens. Tickets now available.

December 9, 2022 to May 1, 2023 December at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

Düsseldorf, October 6, 2022: The Scottish premiere of Doctor Who Worlds of Wonder will take place at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh from December 9, 2022 to May 1, 2023 December. It explores the scientific background of the globally successful Doctor Who television series and gives fans the opportunity to experience the Doctor's adventures from a scientific perspective. Doctor Who has been exploring scientific developments for nearly 60 years.

Doctor Who has strong Scottish connections. To date, three Scots have played the role of the Doctor: Sylvester McCoy, David Tennant and Peter Capaldi (the Seventh, Tenth and Twelfth Doctors, respectively), and a fourth, Ncuti Gatwa, was recently announced as the new Doctor. Other notable cast members include Companions Karen Gillan and Neve McIntosh, as well as Michelle Gomez as Missy (The Master), and Alan Cumming recently appeared as King James VI & I. The series features several other Scottish icons. The Loch Ness Monster appeared in 1975 in Terror of the Zygons with Tom Baker, while the Picts appeared with the 9th Legion of the Roman Army in The Eaters of Light (2017) (starring Peter Capaldi and Michelle Gomez). Other episodes set in Scotland include Tooth and Claw (2006), set in the Highlands, and Under the Lake/Before the Flood (2015), set in Caithness.

The new exhibit, produced under license from BBC Studios, has a number of hands-on activities and interactive elements, as well as into the Monster Crypt, where you can get up close and personal with some of the TV characters. Tickets for Doctor Who World of Wonder will be available this fall at www.nms.ac.uk/doctorwho.
