Düsseldorf, Doha, 31 October 2022: On 27 October 2022, Qatar Creates, Qatar Museums and Maison Valentino hosted the opening of 'Forever Valentino', the largest exhibition ever dedicated to Maison Valentino. Pierpaolo Piccioli collaborated this time with curators Massimiliano Gioni, artistic director of the New Museum New York and fashion critic and author Alexander Fury, who chose M7, Design and Innovation Centre of Msheireb Downtown Doha as the location. Piccioli himself described his exhibition as "not a retrospective, but a perspective". It is an eventful year for Valentino as its founder, Valentino Garavani celebrated his 90th birthday this year. Today, Valentino is owned by Egyptian businessman Rachid Mohamed Rachid, CEO of Mayhoola. "Forever - Valentino" creates a dreamlike image of the city of Rome, the main inspiration of its founder, and takes the viewer through palazzi and squares, via fashion archives to secret spaces such as the historic Valentino ateliers in Piazza Mignanelli.

Capriccio

The curators have been inspired by the Capriccio, an art form dating back to the 18th century. The art of Capriccio, developed by Giovanni Antonio Canaletto and Giovanni Battista Piranesi, created many of the icons and myths that still shape the world's perception of Italy. For the curators, fashion is also made up of capriccios - fantasies translated into fabrics, art, music and culture.

For Patron, Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa, the eyes of the world are currently on Doha as they begin the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™, but she says she is also very proud to invite the public to an exhibition as imaginative, glamorous and elegant as Maison Valentino's creations.

The exhibition features over 200 Valentino haute couture and prêt-à-porter outfits on mannequins by La Rosa, including outfits worn by Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Brooke Shields and the youngest Valentino muse Zendaya. Also on display are ensembles from the private collection of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, a client of the fashion house. The gala was attended by a host of stars and Valentino muses including Naomi Campbell, Janet Jackson, footballer Abdullah Al-Abdullah, Chriselle Lim, Ed Westwick, Noor Tagouri and many more.
