Art Calendar, 18 December 2022: Bucherer 1888 TimeMachine Store in New York, the flagship store of Swiss watchmaker Bucherer, celebrated its latest art partnership with German artist Leon Löwentraut and hosted a VIP party. Löwentraut showed seven paintings, including "Liberty", Löwentrauts interpretation of the Statue of Liberty. His monograph "Painting for Passion", produced by Team Geuer Verlag, Art Manufacture in North Rhine-Westphalia, was also presented.

Around 300 prominent guests attended the reception and the DJ was Alexandra Richards, artist, model and daughter of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. Carina Ertl, CMO of Bucherer US chose Leon Löwentraut because he would "redefine the way we experience art for the next generation of emerging artists."

What's behind it

Swiss jewellery brand Bucherer, founded in Lucerne in 1888 and with 38 European locations, bought the American brand Tourneau in 2018. Tourneau is a 118-year-old watch retailer known by various names in the US and has 34 locations, a sweeping task that nearly doubles the brand. Leading the way is the New York boutique on 57th Street, now rebranded as the Bucherer 1888 TimeMachine store. The culture of watch collecting is growing, and Bucherer knows that customers appreciate luxury environments with selected art. In changing exhibitions since last year, the Time Machine Store has shown works by Picasso, Damien Hirst, Man Ray, Adam Parker Smith and also NFTs. Leon Löwentraut has now joined these names.

Leon Löwentraut himself announced that he is a watch lover, collector and has been a loyal friend of Bucherer Düsseldorf for many years. The partnership with Bucherer would be "an honour" for him.

This exhibition runs until 7 February 2023.

The Visit of Trash People Circular Valley Forum Ansgar Van Treeck

Art Calendar / Environment / Business, 19 November 2022

HA Schult's Trash People at the Circular Valley Forum in Wuppertal on 18 November 2022."Check the thing you want to throw away and don't give it away. It is the mirror of yourself. Don't betray your soul." 600 decision-makers from business and politics came together, including environmental activists from the early days such as HA Schult and former Federal Environment Minister Klaus Töpfer, described by the Forum as the "father of the circular economy". The participants were surprised by the Trash People, many of whom had never seen the artworks up close before. But the performance also shows what role artists play. They are not among the decision-makers, but art has the power to unite and emotionalise people, as it did on this evening.
