Art Calendar, 8 January 2023: The painting performance Homage to Joseph Beuys is a highlight of the exhibition Vasily Klyukin - Mind Space at the Osthaus Museum Hagen. The artist will paint his sculpture, made of polycarbonate elements, live with acrylic paints. If you are not there, you can see the contribution on WDR Lokalzeit (Here you can find the link).

From Monte Carlo to Hagen

In 2021, Vasily Klyukin began to make a Beuys sculpture to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth (12 May 2021). He decided to complete the work in the artist's home country and present it to the Osthaus Museum Hagen as a gift.

Vasily Klyukin was an extremely successful businessman; among other things, he founded a bank and was active in real estate development. From 2011, after moving to Monte Carlo, he decided to devote himself to art. With success, as his sculptures were auctioned off at charity auctions such as the amfAR, Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation or even the Prince Albert II Foundation. In 2017, he designed a sculpture for Milan Design Week called the Golden Madonnina. Today he is represented by the Simon Lee Gallery in London.

Vasily Klyukin has developed his own technique for creating three-dimensional sculptures from polycarbonate sheets without fasteners. The artist consciously wants to dispense with classical sculptural techniques. Vasily Klyukin is no stranger to the Osthaus Museum Hagen. For two years, two loans were placed in the entrance area of the museum. Museum director Dr Tayfun Belgin commented thus in 2021: I first saw Vasily Klyukin's works at the Venice Biennale in 2019 and was very impressed. Shortly afterwards, I also met him in person. We are very proud to show his impressive works here with us.

Performance:

On Friday, 13 January 2023, from 6pm in the entrance area of the Osthaus Museum.

The exhibition "VASILY KLYUKIN - MIND SPACE" will run until 29 January 2023.

----------

The Osthaus Museum Hagen, located in Hagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, has thrilled its visitors with spectacular exhibitions in recent months. Museum director Dr Tayfun Belgin is known for showing stars such as Sylvester Stallone, Bryan Adams and also innovative art techniques, such as the digital painting of German TV star Dieter Nuhr. At the same time, however, Belgin also shows artists who have never had a museum exhibition. A real highlight was also the exhibition "Labyrinths of Love" by the gifted New York artist Edward Bekkermann, shown for the first time in Germany.

The Visit of Trash People Circular Valley Forum Ansgar Van Treeck

Art Calendar / Environment / Business, 19 November 2022

HA Schult's Trash People at the Circular Valley Forum in Wuppertal on 18 November 2022."Check the thing you want to throw away and don't give it away. It is the mirror of yourself. Don't betray your soul." 600 decision-makers from business and politics came together, including environmental activists from the early days such as HA Schult and former Federal Environment Minister Klaus Töpfer, described by the Forum as the "father of the circular economy". The participants were surprised by the Trash People, many of whom had never seen the artworks up close before. But the performance also shows what role artists play. They are not among the decision-makers, but art has the power to unite and emotionalise people, as it did on this evening.
