BrosTRäume virtual museum opening from September 27, 2022

Düsseldorf, September 29, 2022: Are you also a fan of Dieter Nuhr and would you have liked to be there when the TV star and artist opened his exhibition in the Bibliothek Nazionale directly on the market square in Venice? Too far, too expensive? From now on, no problem, because the Brost Foundation in Essen is opening its own digital and free museum. The first exhibition of BrosTRäume is the paintings from Dieter Nuhr's traveling exhibition "Surrounded by Faraway Places." This was first shown in May 2022 at the Osthaus Museum in Hagen and is currently on display in Venice. Other stops include Rome and Senegal.

The digital museum

The Nuhr exhibition was curated by art expert and TV presenter Wolfram Kons; a first for him - curating a virtual picture show. Dieter Nuhr has made a name for himself in the art world as a digital artist. An art movement that the museum director Dr. Tayfun Belgin also found relevant to art history and therefore exhibited in his rooms. Read more:

Weitere Stationen sind u.a.

Professor Bodo Hombach, Chairman of the Brost Foundation emphasizes, "Dieter Nuhr's artworks are extremely impressive in large format. They have a lasting effect. Not everyone has the opportunity to experience this. Attempting to make the art experience virtual doesn't replace the original experience, but it does give more people access to Dieter Nuhr's artistic work." The project thus takes into account the fact that foundations are becoming increasingly important in the field of art. Not only in the promotion of art projects, but also in their mediation.

The Brost Foundation

The Brost Foundation, based in Essen, was established in 2011 in fulfillment of the will of Anneliese Brost. After the death of her husband and WAZ co-founder Erich Brost, she headed the WAZ Media Group as publisher. She received several awards for her social commitment during her lifetime. She was committed to young and old people as well as to art and culture in the Ruhr region. In an interview on her 90th birthday, she said when asked what she would like to change in the world: "That children and the elderly have more rights, more recognition and also opportunities." Today, the Brost Foundation supports projects in the fields of art and culture, youth and elderly welfare, popular and vocational education, and charitable causes. The focus is on the Ruhr region, Anneliese Brost's home, whose identity is to be strengthened.
